Get Vaccinated

NEMS can provide COVID-19 vaccinations to any community member ages 6 months and over!

If you are a NEMS member, please call 415-391-9686 to make a vaccination appointment. If you are new to NEMS, please register first by visiting our Become a Member page.

All patients under age 18 will need to have their parent/guardian accompany them to their vaccine appointment. Parents or guardians will be asked to provide contact information and a Photo ID at the appointment. For anyone under 18, please also bring your photo ID if available (for example, school ID or driver’s license).

First Booster Shots

You may be eligible to receive an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine (“first booster shot”) if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • If you received the 2-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine series more than 5 months ago, it is recommended that you get a booster shot (for ages 5 and over).
  • If you received the 2-dose Moderna vaccine series more than 5 months ago, it is recommended that you get a booster shot (for ages 18 and over).
  • If you received the 1-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine more than 2 months ago, it is recommended that you receive a Moderna or Pfizer booster (for ages 18 and over).

Current recommendations allow for “mix and match” dosing for booster shots, which means you may elect to receive a different vaccine type than you originally received.

Please note that children 5-17 years old who completed the Pfizer-BioNTech primary vaccine series may only get a Pfizer vaccine booster. Boosters are currently not recommended for children who received the Moderna primary vaccine series.

Second Booster Shots

People in certain groups or situations are now eligible to get a second booster shot:

  • Adults ages 50 and older who received their first booster at least 4 months ago
  • Anyone ages 12 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised and who received their first booster at least 4 months ago
  • Adults ages 18 and older who received the 1-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen primary vaccine AND 1-dose Johnson & Johnson booster dose at least 4 months ago

COVID-19 Testing

NEMS offers several COVID-19 testing options for you and your family.

When Do You Need COVID-19 Testing?

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, we recommend taking a COVID-19 rapid antigen test, which can be done at home. You can also use an at-home rapid antigen test to monitor for illness as requested by your school or work.

If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, we recommend that you complete an in-person PCR test at NEMS.

NEMS does not provide COVID-19 testing for travel or leisure purposes.
