Behavioral Health

Behavioral Health

Our behavioral health professionals provide confidential consultations and work with your primary care provider to address your concerns holistically.

Non-Emergency Behavioral Health Services at NEMS

Our emotional and mental outlook on life has a great impact on our overall health. Stress, adjusting to a new environment, and other socioeconomic factors can sometimes create more or aggravate current physical symptoms. They can also lead to or increase existing unhealthy behaviors, such as drinking too much alcohol, smoking, or abusing drugs.

For any behavioral health concerns, a behavioral health provider is available for a confidential* consultation. Members can be referred by their primary care providers or make an appointment directly with one of our Behavioral Health Linkage Workers.

* Except in emergency situations

Behavioral Health is Whole Person Health

NEMS Behavioral Health team, including clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and behavioral health linkage workers (BHLWs), are here to provide confidential consultations, interventions, and follow-up services in collaboration with your primary care provider to address your concerns holistically. Our Behavioral Health team provides adults, children, and their families ongoing support to stay psychologically healthy, and connect members with county and community resources, community mental health, or substance use services.

Music Therapy Program for Asian Americans

Are you interested in learning about how music can support your emotional and behavioral health? Join our Music Therapy Program for Asian Americans and discover how music can help you express your emotions and feelings. This program offers a supportive environment to help you find emotional wellness while connecting with your peers.

The program consists of 10 weekly sessions of group music therapy classes and a peer support group for participants. Throughout these sessions, you will create your own music project using various musical instruments that will be introduced in class. We will also discuss how music and therapy can help us express our emotions and feelings in a safe space with peers. At the end of the program, you can choose to share and perform your project with your peers, friends, and family at our community event.
