We are proud to announce that our Director of Immigrant Health, Dr. Amy Tang, and North East Medical Services (NEMS) have been named a 2023 U.S TB Elimination Champion by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For over a decade, NEMS has recognized Tuberculosis (TB) as a major health disparity affecting our patient population. In an effort to increase TB screenings amongst our non-U.S.-born patients, NEMS introduced a series of quality measures to improve the health of our patients. With new initiatives, the TB screening rate improved from 8% in 2010 to 52% in 2019. Dr. Tang and the NEMS team continue to champion these efforts to this day at our clinics. They are committed to demonstrating the importance of TB prevention and elimination within our community.
