Congratulations to our Director of Immigrant Health, Dr. Amy Tang, for being selected as one of the California TB Elimination Heroes, Class of 2023. This title is awarded by the California Tuberculosis Controllers Association (CTCA) to Dr. Tang for her impassioned campaign for Tuberculosis (TB) screening and prevention at NEMS. During Dr. Tang’s tenure as the Director of Immigrant Health, she has provided primary care to patients at risk for TB infection during the COVID-19 pandemic, trained providers on evidence-based Latent TB Infection (LTBI) care, developed protocols and quality improvement measures to increase LTBI testing and treatment, and led an analysis of NEMS data over a ten-year period to understand our LTBI care cascade. Dr. Tang is currently leading a grant to measure the impact of specific clinical interventions on LTBI testing and treatment.
